About Us....

My photo
Married on Aug. 12, 2005....we met through mutual friends in the spring of 2000 while playing on a co-ed softball team. We both teach…me elementary (since 2004) and Josh middle school history (since 2006) . I've taught 2nd, 4th and 6th grade. This year I'm moving from 6th to 1st grade, big change however I'm excited to teach primary again. Along with teaching Josh coaches 3 sports a year. We're both very active...it feels like we're always on the go. We love our boat and enjoy being out on the lake with family and friends. 2008 was a big year for us. We bought our first home in April, got our first puppy (Tuck) at the beginning of Aug. and were very excited to find out mid Aug. that we were pregnant. Our daughter, Hannah Nicole was born on April, 4 2009 :) Parenthood is so much better than we ever expected it to be. Hannah is such an easy going, happy little girl. On April 21 of 2012 our second daughter Jordyn Elizabeth entered our lives & made our family complete. We are so fortunate to have two healthy, happy, beautiful girls.

Swim Lessons

Last Monday Hannah had her first day of swim class. Although she's just shy of 6 months, we decided to sign her up because she loves the water and there was only 4 weeks left of outdoor swim lessons. Because we are on our boat so much during the summer, we want Hannah to be a very capable, confident swimmer. She did well during her first couple classes. She loved floating on her back and stomach, at first she did not love the "Humpty Dumpty" part of the lesson where we put her on the side of the pool and then dip her back in. I think she just didn't like being lifted out of the warm pool. :) She also was not a fan of "1...2...3...dunk" the first couple times. However ,by the 3rd lesson she didn't mind it. At yesterday's class, Josh got in the pool with her and she absolutely loved it when he had her float on her back. She spent the last half of her lesson floating on her back and kicking her legs like crazy. She was all smiles for dad. It was too cute. :) The weather has been so hot, making the temp at our 5:00 class time perfect! Tomorrow my parents are coming to visit and will be here for swim lessons. They are so excited to see her in the pool. We have two more weeks of lessons and then may sign up for classes at the YMCA's indoor pool during the winter. We are having so much fun with her at the pool!

Visit from Auntie Cole

Last weekend my sis came to visit for a few days. We were sooo excited to have her here! We had so many laughs together over things Hannah did (including her uncontrollable laughing session). Hannah, Nicole and I went to the Wedding Expo to get some ideas for their wedding next year. Even though most of the venues there were for Sonoma County and they’re getting married in Humboldt, we still had a great time checking everything out, wine tasting and entering to win prizes. Hannah loved riding around in the Bjorn and checking everything out. Nicole and Sean’s wedding will be the first wedding that she’ll be in. Crazy to think it’s less than a year away! Hannah stayed home from daycare on Monday with her Auntie and had such a good time. It was such a bummer when Nicole left Monday afternoon. We can’t wait until Auntie Nicole and Uncle Sean are here for Oktoberfest next weekend.
So happy to get kisses from mom Love my girl!

All smiles

Visiting Grandma and Poppa Martin/Reno Rib Cookoff

Labor Day weekend we drove over to Carson City to see Grandma and Poppa Martin & attend the Reno Rib Cookoff. It's kind of crazy to think last year at the rib cookoff we had just found out we were pregnant. I remember after eating so many ribs, I could barely stand to look at, let alone eat a rib for the entire rest of my pregnancy. :) This year however the ribs looked appealing once again and tasted sooo good! We drove up Friday night around Hannah's bedtime, which was perfect because she slept the entire way and we didn't have to stop once on the 4 hr. drive. On Sat. we went over to Korine and Justin's for some appetizers and drinks before heading to the rib cookoff around 5:00. At this point the weather had cooled off and was perfect. As per usual everyone split up each heading to a different rib stand to buy a rack of ribs and then meet in one spot to share ribs so that we could try a variety. After enjoying ribs and corn on the cob, we walked through the area with all the different vendors to check everything out. Of course we also enjoyed funnel cake and kettle corn...yum! :)

On Sunday we were planning on heading out to the lake on my in law's boat, however (just like last year) it was crazy windy, so we decided to take a trip to nearby Nevada City for the afternoon. We did some window shopping, took a tour of the last remaining stamping mill, and rode the trolley (during which Hannah chatted loudly the entire time entertaining the other passengers). After a delicious tri-tip dinner at Josh's parents, we once again hit the when it was time for Hannah to go to bed so that she would sleep the entire trip home.

On Monday, we did a little shopping, laundry, I packed for the overnight trip with my 5th graders and then we stopped by Dave and Kia's for a Memorial Day BBQ. On Tuesday I went on an overnight trip with my 5th grade class to Pt. Reyes. Overall the trip went really well, the kids had a blast and everything went smoothly. Although I had left Hannah overnight 4 times previously, this by far was the hardest time leaving her. I think because I'm back to work full time and don't get to spend my days with her it just felt like my time away was sooo much longer. I was there to pick her up at daycare right after school at 3:15 on Wed. She was all smiles and shook her arms with excitement when she saw me, it was too cute!
