Well little miss Hannah was impatient and decided to make her appearance into the world 3 weeks early. Friday was my last day of work, she didn't give me one day off! :) My water broke Friday evening and we headed to the hospital around 3:00am. By 7:00 am I was dilated to 4 and then just one hour later I was dilated to 9.5! We thought we were going to have her here before lunch time, however when they had me start pushing her heart rate dropped from 140 to 90. It got a little crazy in the delivery room as more hospital staff rushed in, put me on oxygen and told us she was going to have to be delivered by an emergency C section. They also repositioned me in bed and in doing so her heart rate slowly began to climb. The doctor then decided that since her heart rate was steady, they'd give me meds to slow down my contractions and give both Hannah and I a rest. After another couple hours they gave me petosin to speed up the contractions and decided to have me try pushing once more, however this time they were prepped for an emergency C section if her heart rate happened to drop again. Fortunately it did not and I proceeded to push for 2 hrs. She was making progress, yet not as quickly as they wanted her too. She was so close yet something was holding her up. At the end of the 2 hrs. they decided both Hannah and I were too exhausted and decided to make one last attempt to get her out using the vacuum before resorting to the C section. Fortunately with the help of the vacuum and after 2 sets of pushes Hannah made her way out into the world. Apparently she had her hand right up next to her face, which prevented her from making it out with just me pushing. Hannah was born at 1:13 pm and we were so excited to finally have her in our arms. She is more beautiful than we could have imagined and we are so in love with her. Josh and I look at her and still can't believe she's here and she's ours. Thank you to everyone for your thoughtful calls, texts, visits, flowers, meals and love. Hannah is lucky to have such a wonderful family and group of friends.
