About Us....

My photo
Married on Aug. 12, 2005....we met through mutual friends in the spring of 2000 while playing on a co-ed softball team. We both teach…me elementary (since 2004) and Josh middle school history (since 2006) . I've taught 2nd, 4th and 6th grade. This year I'm moving from 6th to 1st grade, big change however I'm excited to teach primary again. Along with teaching Josh coaches 3 sports a year. We're both very active...it feels like we're always on the go. We love our boat and enjoy being out on the lake with family and friends. 2008 was a big year for us. We bought our first home in April, got our first puppy (Tuck) at the beginning of Aug. and were very excited to find out mid Aug. that we were pregnant. Our daughter, Hannah Nicole was born on April, 4 2009 :) Parenthood is so much better than we ever expected it to be. Hannah is such an easy going, happy little girl. On April 21 of 2012 our second daughter Jordyn Elizabeth entered our lives & made our family complete. We are so fortunate to have two healthy, happy, beautiful girls.

Cabin Getaway

Last weekend Josh, Hannah, Tuck and I headed up near Lake Almanor to our good friend Andrea and Devin's cabin for a weekend of rest and relaxation. Josh had his last day of teaching summer school on Wed. (woo hoo!) so Thursday we hit the road for the cabin. We met up in Chester, CA with Andrea and Devin for lunch at the Pine Shack before following them out to the cabin (approx. 15 min. from Chester). The Pine Shack has the most delicious shakes!!!! Over the course of 4 days we had a milkshake 3 out of 4 days. :) Andrea and I loved peanut butter/banana (with real chunks of banana). While at the cabin we enjoyed hanging out by the river/swimming hole, (just a stones throw from the cabin), reading, playing lots of games, eating, laughing, going for many walks and most importantly just relaxing!!! It was the perfect way to start our summer of both being off from work together. Our lives tend to be so hectic while at home, so it was nice to spend time with great friends in an absolutely gorgeous setting.

Laid Back 4th of July weekend

This past weekend was the only weekend we're in town this month, so we decided to make it as low key as possible. Josh had Friday off from summer school so we decided to take the boat out to Lake Sonoma with friends Michelle, Bill, Ramona and Monica. The temp was perfect, but the wind was a little strong making the lake was not ideal for wake boarding. We still got in some wake boarding and wake surfing runs and had a nice time relaxing in a cove for lunch and catching some rays. Hannah has been the easiest baby to have on the boat (which is awesome because she'll be spending much time on it in the years to come). The vibrations put her to sleep quickly and when she's awake she enjoys taking in the scenery. On Saturday Josh, Hannah and I slept in til 11 (it felt so good!) did a little shopping at Target and the Outlets and then decided around 4:30 that we'd see if a some friends wanted to come over for a last min. BBQ. We rounded up 9 friends and bbq'ed at our house. Josh got our fire pit going ,which we all sat around for awhile and then Josh,Hannah and I headed down to the neighborhood block party with Scott, Deb, Ian and Jen to watch fireworks. Hannah turned 3 months on the 4th. She is doing so much more now. She rolled over for the first time 2 weeks ago from front to back and has been doing it daily ever since. She is holding her head up really well and enjoying facing forward while riding around in the Bjorn. She smiles all the time now and is a little chatterbox. :) While holding onto our hands she stands up keeping her legs strong and stiff, sometimes swinging her hips from side to side like she's doing the hula. :) On Sunday we met up with with Josh's brother Dustin, his wife Mel and their daughter Mazzy for the Penngrove parade. Hannah slept through most of the parade, but enjoyed walking around the park afterwards where we met up with some friends to listen to the band, eat lunch and enjoy the sun. It's going to be so fun someday when Hannah can enjoy watching the parade and take part in all the activities they have for kids in the park afterwards. Josh has his last day of summer school this Wed. (yippee!) so we're heading up to Andrea and Devin's cabin near Lake Almanor on Thurs. The following weekend we head up to Fortuna for 4 days to see family, friends and take Hannah to her first rodeo. :) The week after that we leave for our 5 day "family camp" trip at Union Valley. We are looking forward to the many fun events the rest of July holds and hope that the time does not fly by too quickly!

1st camping trip with baby and puppy

Last weekend we took our first camping trip with Hannah and Tuck. We headed to one of our favorite lakes (Lake Philsbury) to camp Fri-Mon. Our group consisted of 13 adults and 4 kids. Both Hannah and Tuck did great on the trip. I'd have to say overall Hannah actually did better than Tuck. :) Over the weekend we got in some good skiing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing, relaxed and soaked up some rays on the shore, played games of horseshoe and ladder ball, bbq'ed delicious meals, played board games at camp and enjoyed hanging out around the campfire in the evening. This was a good trial run for the big family camp trip at the end of July. Fortunately there will be other dogs for Tuck to play with on the family camp trip! :) Hannah enjoyed being outside and checking everything out, she once again loved being on the boat. She slept well in her pack 'n play at night and took lots of naps during the day (she still is quite the sleeper!) Next year we're hoping to reserve the group campsite (which holds up to 50 people) like we did a few years ago. Josh has been going to Lake Philsbury since he was a small boy, visiting his grandparents there at their site every summer. He learned to double ski on the lake at the age of 3. We're looking forward to the many years of memories we'll have at Lake Philsbury in the future.
