Last weekend my sis came to visit for a few days. We were sooo excited to have her here! We had so many laughs together over things Hannah did (including her uncontrollable laughing session). Hannah, Nicole and I went to the Wedding Expo to get some ideas for their wedding next year. Even though most of the venues there were for Sonoma County and they’re getting married in Humboldt, we still had a great time checking everything out, wine tasting and entering to win prizes. Hannah loved riding around in the Bjorn and checking everything out. Nicole and Sean’s wedding will be the first wedding that she’ll be in. Crazy to think it’s less than a year away! Hannah stayed home from daycare on Monday with her Auntie and had such a good time. It was such a bummer when Nicole left Monday afternoon. We can’t wait until Auntie Nicole and Uncle Sean are here for Oktoberfest next weekend.
About Us....
- The Healds
- Married on Aug. 12, 2005....we met through mutual friends in the spring of 2000 while playing on a co-ed softball team. We both teach…me elementary (since 2004) and Josh middle school history (since 2006) . I've taught 2nd, 4th and 6th grade. This year I'm moving from 6th to 1st grade, big change however I'm excited to teach primary again. Along with teaching Josh coaches 3 sports a year. We're both very active...it feels like we're always on the go. We love our boat and enjoy being out on the lake with family and friends. 2008 was a big year for us. We bought our first home in April, got our first puppy (Tuck) at the beginning of Aug. and were very excited to find out mid Aug. that we were pregnant. Our daughter, Hannah Nicole was born on April, 4 2009 :) Parenthood is so much better than we ever expected it to be. Hannah is such an easy going, happy little girl. On April 21 of 2012 our second daughter Jordyn Elizabeth entered our lives & made our family complete. We are so fortunate to have two healthy, happy, beautiful girls.

Visiting Grandma and Poppa Martin/Reno Rib Cookoff
Labor Day weekend we drove over to Carson City to see Grandma and Poppa Martin & attend the Reno Rib Cookoff. It's kind of crazy to think last year at the rib cookoff we had just found out we were pregnant. I remember after eating so many ribs, I could barely stand to look at, let alone eat a rib for the entire rest of my pregnancy. :) This year however the ribs looked appealing once again and tasted sooo good! We drove up Friday night around Hannah's bedtime, which was perfect because she slept the entire way and we didn't have to stop once on the 4 hr. drive. On Sat. we went over to Korine and Justin's for some appetizers and drinks before heading to the rib cookoff around 5:00. At this point the weather had cooled off and was perfect. As per usual everyone split up each heading to a different rib stand to buy a rack of ribs and then meet in one spot to share ribs so that we could try a variety. After enjoying ribs and corn on the cob, we walked through the area with all the different vendors to check everything out. Of course we also enjoyed funnel cake and kettle corn...yum! :)
On Sunday we were planning on heading out to the lake on my in law's boat, however (just like last year) it was crazy windy, so we decided to take a trip to nearby Nevada City for the afternoon. We did some window shopping, took a tour of the last remaining stamping mill, and rode the trolley (during which Hannah chatted loudly the entire time entertaining the other passengers). After a delicious tri-tip dinner at Josh's parents, we once again hit the when it was time for Hannah to go to bed so that she would sleep the entire trip home.
On Monday, we did a little shopping, laundry, I packed for the overnight trip with my 5th graders and then we stopped by Dave and Kia's for a Memorial Day BBQ. On Tuesday I went on an overnight trip with my 5th grade class to Pt. Reyes. Overall the trip went really well, the kids had a blast and everything went smoothly. Although I had left Hannah overnight 4 times previously, this by far was the hardest time leaving her. I think because I'm back to work full time and don't get to spend my days with her it just felt like my time away was sooo much longer. I was there to pick her up at daycare right after school at 3:15 on Wed. She was all smiles and shook her arms with excitement when she saw me, it was too cute!

Our girl is 5 months old!
Last week was quite the week for Hannah. She had her first week of daycare, started rolling back to front like a pro (been rolling front to back since 2 mon.), had her first 2 teeth break through! (complete shock to mom and dad), survived her first cold, ate carrots for the first time and turned 5 months old.
Hannah did great during her first week of daycare. She got into a regular routine of two 2 1/2 hr. naps per day, ate well, and loved watching the big kids play. We knew she was on the verge of rolling completely over from back to front because she's been rolling from her back to her side for quite some time. She loves that she can make it all the way to her stomach now! Once she's rolled over she'll lay on her tummy and contently play with her toys. :) We were amazed on Friday while feeding her carrots for the first time, that we felt not one but TWO sharp little teeth that had broken through on the bottom. The only signs of teething she's shown are sucking/chewing on everything and sometimes waking up 2 times a night. During the day her temperament hadn't changed a bit. Josh and I both got nasty colds after my first two days back to work. As hard as we tried to avoid it, we knew that inevitably we'd pass something on to Hannah. We felt so bad for her when she got sick. Other than having a stuffy/runny nose and being slightly more tired, she handled her first cold like a trooper. The nasal drops and humidifier helped! We weighed her on her 5 mon. bday and she was 14 lbs. 14 oz. We're finishing up the #2 diapers, by next week she'll be wearing 3's.
Now that she's rolling around in her crib it looks like we'll be taking out the bumper. She has so much fun playing in her crib and talking to herself, it's too cute! On Labor Day she enjoyed her first time swinging over at our friend Dave and Kia's house. She loved sitting there and watching everyone as she swung back and forth. We bought her a jumper last weekend which she absolutely loves! It is so funny to watch her in it. As soon as she gets in, she starts pushing the buttons which makes the music and lights start. Once the music and lights begin she starts jumping and spinning around like crazy. She gets so excited and has the biggest grin on her face. We can't help but laugh every time she's in it. :) Last weekend we traveled to Carson City to visit Grandma and Poppa Martin and go to the rib cookoff in Reno. We had a great time! I'll post pics later this week.

Quick Trip to Fortuna
Last weekend we took a quick trip to Fortuna to visit family and attend the "Hops In Humboldt" beer fest with Nicole and Sean. Hannah got to spend the day and night with Nonne and Nonnie and loved every minute of it! The weather was absolutely gorgeous on Saturday. We couldn't believe how many people were down beer fest, it was so fun running into friends and catching up. On Sunday Josh and Sean played Frisbee golf over at College of the Redwoods, while Nicole and I went up to my parents to hang out with them and Hannah. We ended up being in Fortuna for less than 48 hrs (too short!), but had a great visit. This weekend we are off to see Grandma and Grandpa Martin and go to the Rib Cookoff in Reno for the 3rd year in a row. Can't wait!!!
