About Us....

My photo
Married on Aug. 12, 2005....we met through mutual friends in the spring of 2000 while playing on a co-ed softball team. We both teach…me elementary (since 2004) and Josh middle school history (since 2006) . I've taught 2nd, 4th and 6th grade. This year I'm moving from 6th to 1st grade, big change however I'm excited to teach primary again. Along with teaching Josh coaches 3 sports a year. We're both very active...it feels like we're always on the go. We love our boat and enjoy being out on the lake with family and friends. 2008 was a big year for us. We bought our first home in April, got our first puppy (Tuck) at the beginning of Aug. and were very excited to find out mid Aug. that we were pregnant. Our daughter, Hannah Nicole was born on April, 4 2009 :) Parenthood is so much better than we ever expected it to be. Hannah is such an easy going, happy little girl. On April 21 of 2012 our second daughter Jordyn Elizabeth entered our lives & made our family complete. We are so fortunate to have two healthy, happy, beautiful girls.

23 months old

I know I always say this, but WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?!?! Our baby girl is going to be 2 years old in less than 3 weeks. Sometimes I feel like it was just yesterday that we were changing newborn diapers.... capturing her crawling for the first time on film....celebrating her first birthday....and now she's almost TWO?!?! I know time is going to continue to fly by and so I try to embrace each stage of her childhood. Her laughter and smile are so infectious. The things she says and does continue to amaze us. She truly is the light of our lives. :) Below are some of my favorite recent pictures of her at 23 months old.

Outdoor Ed

During the last week of February myself, along with my other two teaching partners, took our 6th graders on a week long Outdoor Ed trip to Alliance Redwoods in Occidental, CA. The week was so incredible! Part of what made the trip go so smoothly was the fact that we have an amazing group of 6th grade students. I started out my school year feeling a little apprehensive about teaching 6th grade (a grade level new to me this year). I wasn't sure I'd like the age group as much as I loved 2nd grade. Despite the increase in class size AND the fact that I had to learn not 1 but 4 new textbook series, my school year has been wonderful so far! I have an incredible group of 29 6th graders, who have made me love my job even more.

The week I spent at Outdoor Ed, with my teaching partners and our 3 6th grade classes was filled with so many great memories. It was so neat to see students challenge themselves in ways they never thought they could, support each other through overcoming fears, be silly and act like little kids, and try new things. They bonded so much as a group and it was so fun to be a part of that. Alliance Redwoods is such an incredible facility! The naturalists that lead the classes & challenge courses were so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the parents that went as counselors were awesome! It was great because Tracy, Carley and I had very minimal responsiblity while there. We were able to float from group to group and participate in challenge courses with our students, have quiet time to catch up on grading and read a good book, and best of all we didn't have to deal with any major discipline issues. My week was relaxing and filled with many special memories with my students. The only downfall was leaving Josh and Hannah for the week, however Josh and I were able to Skype and Tracy and I drove into Rohnert Park (45 min. away) midweek and picked up the girls from daycare to bring them to camp for the afternoon. Hannah had a great time running around with the big kids!

There are many fun pictures that I took of the students while at camp, however I don't feel that it's appropriate to put pictures of them on the internet, so a few pictures of me will have to do.  :)

January and February Fun

The months of January and February were filled with many fun memories. We stuck with our New Year's goal of traveling less.....I know it's hard to believe, but we still haven't traveled out of town (overnight) since Christmas break. Hannah has enjoyed lazy days at home with mom and dad, Saturdays at gymnastics, taking her first soccer class, making Valentines for her friends and family, cooking with Nonnie, riding her first horse and of course having it all captured on camera along the way! :)  The following pictures summarize some of what we've been up to during the past two months.

It amazes me that March is already here and that Hannah will be 2 in less than a month. She is saying so much more these days and it is so much fun to have conversations with her. She continues to love to dance (I need to make a point of catching her on the video camera), she's still a great eater and sleeper, hasn't hit the terrible two's yet ("knock on wood"!), is working on counting to 20, loves singing along to the radio, enjoys giving hugs and kisses to her friends, gives me enthusiastic "Cheeeeese!" when taking a picture, loves to help mom and dad cook in the kitchen and then try to recreate it in her own little kitchen, is excited about her 2nd birthday and told us she wants a Hello Kitty party. :)
